He's finally here!
Pre-eclampsia struck again and the doctor had to do an emergency c-section. Benjamin was born on November 9th at 3:14 in the morning and he weighed 10 pounds and 7 ounces! He was 22 inches long and looked great! No wonder I was so big!
The night before surgery I had been having pain in my upper abdomen and a migraine. The nurses said that if I had waited longer to see the doctor, the baby and I wouldn't have made it. The surgery was scary, but hearing my son cry for the first time made it all better.
He's such a wonderful baby!
I'm on strict bedrest because my blood pressure is really high at the moment and also because the doctor wants the incision to heal. I can't drive for the next 6 weeks either.
Drew is really helping me so much. He held my hand during the surgery and brought me ice chips and made me comfortable during my hospital stay. I'm so weak and sore that he even helps me get dressed! He is the best!

37 Weeks
I'm at 37 weeks, so he's considered 'full term' now. I will be having a c-section as he is over 9 pounds and will be much bigger next week. We don't want him to be in danger of shoulder dystocia, which is a really bad injury caused by the baby's shoulder getting caught on the way out.
I'm disappointed in having to do the c-section, especially after having to stick myself with needles 7 times a day for so many months in order to avoid a large baby. Hopefully his blood sugars will be fine when he is delivered.
I'm having a lot of swelling in my hands, feet and face. I get out of breath just from picking up a few things or putting dishes away. I can't sleep more than an hour at a time. My blood pressure is rising, so hopefully I get to deliver him next week. I only gained half the weight I had gained when I was pregnant with Dylan. This baby is VERY active. I'm tired and ready to welcome him into the world!

32 Weeks
I had my second appointment with the hematologist yesterday. Everything is fine, except for my iron and B12 levels. The levels are getting better slowly and once the baby is born they should be fine.
I'm taking extra iron in the morning and started using a cast iron pan for cooking. I make homemade pasta sauce once a week and supposedly the tomatoes react with the pan and helps increase my iron intake.
My baby is due in November, my sister in law is due to have a boy in February and I just found out my cousin in Virginia is going to have a baby in April. So many babies are coming to the family!

31 Weeks!
I have about 7 weeks to go before the baby is born. I'm feeling a bit worried because she said babies of diabetics can die around 39 or 40 weeks before they are born. I count his kicks often to make sure he's moving like he should be. I'll be going to the hospital weekly to have him monitored during stress tests to make sure everything is going well.I'm still waiting on a response from the hemotologist about my low iron levels. The anemia really has me feeling so tired. I read that people with celiac disease have a lot of problems with anemia, so hopefully that is just it and it can be easilly fixed. I don't need any problems like leukemia and kidney failure to be the cause! I've been eating lots of iron in foods, use a cast iron pan to cook in and take iron pills as well, but still I am so tired. The mattress arrived yesterday and is waiting for him in the crib. All I need are diapers and wipes and I'll be ready for him to come home! Well, I also need to pack my suitcase for the hospital too.Drew's sister gave us a lot of baby boy clothing on Saturday, she has two boys already, so had a lot of clothing to share. We finished the natural childbirth classes on Sunday. The instructor was a really great lady from England. She did a wonderful job and answered all of our questions. I feel more prepared for the birth, but still hope to avoid a c-section!
